PURPOSE: To prevent a vacuum container from being cracked due to electrolysis current by providing a tension band in such a way as to be brought into contact with a low resistant conductive film formed around the circumferential periphery section of the outer surface of a face panel except an image display section.
CONSTITUTION: A group of electron beam drive electrodes 5 is contained in the inside of a vacuum container, and voltage is applied to those electrodes from an electrode terminal 6 through a seal joint section between a back plate container 2 and a face panel 1. In addition, the circumferential periphery section of the outer surface of the face panel 1 is formed with a low resistant conductive film 7 except an image display section. And a tension band 8 is mounted in such a way that the low resistant conductive film 7 is covered, so that the low resistant conductive film 7 is electrically connected to the tension band 8. Grounding potential is applied to the low resistant conductive film 7 through the tension band 8. By this constitution, the low resistant conductive film 7 for electrolysis current grounding can thereby be maintained stably at grounding potential for a long time.
