PURPOSE: To facilitate the inspection of welded part and the after heat treatment in a pipe plate having a pipe hole which functions as a pipe and is plugged by attaching a plug tube over the pipe hole by means of welding and then attaching a plug to the plug tube by means of butt-welding.
CONSTITUTION: The pipe plate 1 is engraved on the upper surface with an annuar groove having a depth of (h) and a width of (e) around the pipe hole so as to form an annular projection having the same thickness t1 as the plug tube 2 at the upper end of the pipe hole 1'. The lower end of the plug tube 2 is tapered at an angle of θ1 toward the outer periphery. The projection is also tapered in the upper surface to meet the tapered surface of the plug tube 2. The plug tube 2 and the projection are abutted to each other and welded from the inside of the plug tube 2. The welded part is subjected to an X-ray inspection, and if necessary, an annealing is effected. Then, the plug 3b is welded to the plug tube 2. Thus, the welding operation comprises two steps so that after the first step, an inspection and after heat treatment can be effected. Accordingly, the after heat treatment of the product can be facilitated and the reliability at the welding quality is much improved.
