Abstract:
A pack Pk of floppy discs is divided at a selected location to allow transducer access by means of a jet of air applied to a selected one of a number of bores that extend axially through the disc pack and terminate at respective inter- disc gaps. The drive hub Hb has ducts D in registry with the pack bores and terminating at respective annular grooves Ha. A non-rotating sleeve Id having a single annular groove Ida is axially movable to align Ida with a selected groove Ha and apply pressurised air S-A. Other grooves Ha are vented by means of axial slots G-1a, G-1 b. The sleeve Id may alternatively be fixed and have plural air supply grooves Ida connected to a selector valve arrangement.
