To provide a method and apparatus in which users communicating with voice and the like via the Internet can constantly achieve secure point-to-point communication with each other, while maintaining the anonymities of different users for each communication session.

The method includes the steps of maintaining a list having a plurality of entries, each entry including a predetermined connection identifier and a current Internet protocol address of a user connected to the Internet; and in response to one of the list entries selected by a requesting user, providing the Internet protocol address corresponding to the selected entry to the requesting user.
