Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the productivity of the display device having a light emittable pointer by miniaturizing the device and facilitating the production of the dial thereof. CONSTITUTION:A first linear polarizing plate 9 is provided behind the pointer 8 consisting of a half-wave plate 7 and quarter-wave plates 5, 6 and a display part 10 having an optical rotatory power and light scatterability is provided in font of this polarizing plate 9. A second linear polarizing plate 14 having the axis of polarization orthogonal with the first linear polarizing plate 9 is provided in front of the pointer 8. The light from a light source 11 is unidirecitonally and linearly polarized by the first linear polarizing plate 9 and is cut by the second linear polarizing plate 14, by which the plan ground color part of a dark color is obtd. The pointer 8 of the light emitting state and the display part 10 are visually recognized on this ground color part regardless of the rotating position of the pointer 8.
