Title:
POLY-PARA-PHENYLENE TEREPHTHALAMIDE FIBER TOW FOR STRETCH-BREAKING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000154423
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain the subject tow excellent in shear resistance and flexibility, light and suitable for production of sports wears and protective clothing by including a dyeable poly-para-phenylene terephthalamide fiber having a predetermined tensile strength, crystal size and water content.

This tow comprises a dyeable poly-para-phenylene terephthalamide fiber ≥15 g/d in tensile strength, 30 to 55 in crystal size (110 orientation), and ≥6% in water content before dyeing. Preferably, each filament, forming the poly-para-phenylene terephthalamide fiber toe, is ≤6 d in fineness, ≥15 g/d in break strength, ≤5% in tensile elongation at break, ≤70% in elastic modulus in elongation of fiber at 3% elongation, ≤20% in degree of variability of the tensile strength, ≥200 g/d in the initial degree of tensile resistance, 3 to 13 pieces of in. in crimp, and 4 to 11% in crimp percentage, thus resulting in 100,000 to 400,000 deniers in the total denier of the tow.
