Abstract:

PURPOSE: A composite material having improved electrical conductivity and sufficient strength, capable of doping rapidly a dopant and doping a large amount of dopant, containing carbon fibers linked to polyacetylene.

CONSTITUTION: An amorphous polyacetylene composite material containing carbon fibers linked to polyacetylene, having ≥100m2/g specific surface area. This composite material is obtained by polymerizing acetylene in the presence of carbon fibers, and the polymerization is carried out with relatively strong stirring at -80W100°C. Carbon fibers in the form of filaments, stable, etc. are used as the carbon fibers. A catalyst consisting of a titanium or vanadium alkoxy compound and an trialkylaluminumum compound is preferable as a catalyst for the polymerization.
