PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound having excellent safety and target directivity, containing a specific structural unit.

CONSTITUTION: The objective compound contains a structural unit of formula I (R1 is hydroxyl group or group of formula II; all R1s in molecule do not denote hydroxyl group). The compound is obtained by subjecting carboxyl group of polymalic acid and hydroxyl group at the 14-position of adriamycin to ester linkage.
