To obtain a new polypeptide having a hydrophilic face and a hydrophobic face, stably forming α-helix, having a definite length, forming a fibrous aggregation and useful as a material for medical uses, etc., obtained by gene engineering method.
This polypeptide has a hydrophilic face having at least one kind of amino acid, e.g. Glu, Lys or Ths and hydrophobic aspect having at least one kind of amino acid such as Leu, Ala, Vab and is obtained by gene recombinant method and stably forms α helix and has a definite length. The polypeptide forms a fibrous aggregation and is useful as a medical material, etc., e.g. an inclusion agent, yarn for operation, artificial blood vessel, artificial organs. The polypeptide is obtained by integrating DNA coding an arbitrary amino acid sequence capable of forming the hydrophilic face and the hydrophobic face on the sides of α-helix to an expression vector and expressing the DNA in a host cell.
