PURPOSE: To obtain a portable case of light weight, high shock resistance and excellent rigidity by using a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin sheet having a bending elastic modulus and impact resistance strength respectively equal to or above the predetermined values.
CONSTITUTION: A fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin sheet for use has a bending elastic modulus of 700kg/mm2 or more and a notch Izod impact value of 80kg.cm/cm or more. As a fiber for forming the fiber reinforced thermoplastic sheet, glass fiber, carbon fiber or the like is used. Also, as a thermoplastic resin for forming the sheet, polyolefine resin and polyester resin are preferably used in economy and moldability. For the manufacture of a portable case, the aforesaid sheet after cut to the predetermined size, is heated and melted at a temperature equal to the melting or softening point of thermoplastic resin. Thereafter, the melted resin is fed to a portable case mold kept at a temperature equal to or above the glass transition point of the thermoplastic resin, but equal to or below the melting or softening point thereof, and subjected to a stamping molding process, thereby obtaining the portable case.
