Abstract:

To control vertical orientation of the screen of a display without requiring any key operation.

An open/close state detecting circuit 17 detects folding state where a liquid crystal display 20 is placed outward. An inclination state detecting circuit 18a detects variation in inclination state of two opposing sides of the screen of the liquid crystal display 20 under folding state where the liquid crystal display 20 is placed outward. Based on the detection results from the inclination state detecting circuit 18a, a control section 13a controls vertical orientation of image display through a display control circuit 19 such that vertical orientation of image display of the liquid crystal display 20 is set correctly when seen from a direction of a lower position among the two opposed sides.
