To provide a portable microwave measurement device which receives thermal noise in a microwave band radiated from a measurement target and measures the signal level thereof, and which offers improved measurement-based object detection accuracy obtained by increasing the amount of thermal noise from the measurement target entering a receiver element.
A portable microwave measurement device includes a millimeter wave sensor 12 and a millimeter wave lens 14 for directing thermal noise in a millimeter waveband radiated from a measurement target to the millimeter wave sensor 12, which are both located in a cylindrical case 10, and detects an object hidden in the measurement target by measuring the reception level of the thermal noise received by the millimeter wave sensor 12 using a control circuit located behind the millimeter wave sensor 12. Provided around the millimeter wave lens 14 are a metallic plate 16, a radiowave absorption member 18, and a temperature control section 22 which generates thermal noise from the radiowave absorption member 18 by heating the metallic plate 16. Thus, the thermal noise from the radiowave absorption member 18 is radiated toward the measurement target and the object is accurately detected using the reflection wave thereof.
