To easily identify a portable telephone set receiving an incoming-call by devising the portable telephone set to record freely an incoming-call tone and selecting the recorded incoming call tone from a conventional incoming call tone after the recording of the incoming-call tone is finished.

A recording start button of an input device 2 in the portable telephone set 1 is depressed, and a controller 3 detecting the depression stores an incoming-call tone received from an incoming-call tone input terminal 4 to an incoming call tone recording memory 5, and when the controller 3 detects the depression of a recording end button on the input device 2 or detects the excess of a recording available time, the controller 3 finishes the recording of the incoming-call tone. When an incoming-call tone changeover button of the input device 2 is depressed, the recorded incoming call tone is used thereafter.
