The portable viewer includes a control means for controlling the portable viewer; a storage means used by the control means; an image retaining means for retaining images displayed on the portable viewer; a movement detection means for detecting information about the movement of the portable viewer; a viewing position detection means for detecting the user's viewing position; a pixel conversion means for reading the images retained in the image retaining means, cutting out images according to the movement information detected by the movement detection means and the viewing position information detected by the viewing position detection means, and converting the resolution of the images cut; and an image display means for displaying image information outputted from the pixel conversion means.
