To switch the operating position of an object to be controlled with high accuracy without being influenced by the play of a rotation transmission system while reducing the execution frequency of abutting control which causes a large burden on each component of a detent mechanism and the rotation transmission system, in a position switching control device which switches the operating position of the object to be controlled by using a motor.
The rotatable range of the motor (output shaft 15) is regulated by a detent lever 18. When the direction of torque generated by an elastic force of a detent spring 26 for elastically holding the rotational position of the detent lever 18 at a position of each range is reverse to the direction of torque generated by a driving force of the motor (output shaft 15), the play (rattling) of the rotation transmission system is in a state of being clogged. By taking this into account, a position in which the direction of the torque generated by the elastic force of the detent spring 26 is reverse to the direction of the torque generated by the driving force of the motor (output shaft 15) is learnt as a rotation reference position, and the rotational position of the motor is controlled according to an encoder count value with this position as a reference.
