Abstract:

To provide a lithium nickel cobalt manganese composite oxide with high characteristics and useful as a positive active material for a lithium ion secondary battery, its manufacturing method, and the lithium ion secondary battery using this composite oxide.

The lithium nickel cobalt manganese composite oxide is represented by the composition formula of Li[Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3]O2 in which the actual atomic ratio of nickel, cobalt, and manganese is 1:1:1, has high crystalline layered structure of a rhombohedral system, and the length of a C axis belonging as a hexagonal system is 14.15 or more.
