Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material exerting excellent active material performance at a low temperature and to provide a sesondary battery obtaining excellent battery performance at a low cost respectively.
SOLUTION: Metals with the ionic radius smaller than that of Mn are stuck to part of the surfaces of nuclei made of a composite oxide containing Li and Mn and having a spinel structure to form a positive electrode active material. A secondary battery is formed with a positive electrode having the positive electrode active material. Even when Mn of the nuclei is eluted by the repeated cycle charges/discharges, the metals are diffused in the nuclei and taken into the site of the eluted Mn. The change of the crystalline form of the nuclei is prevented, and the deterioration of active material performance is prevented.
