To provide a powder recovery container that has good assemblability and can prevent leakage of powder from the powder recovery container despite its simple configuration, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A powder recovery container stores powder discharged from a discharge port of a powder discharge part. The powder recovery container comprises: an insertion chamber that has an inlet part into which the powder discharge part is inserted and a planar bottom part in which an opening is formed; a powder recovery chamber that communicates with the insertion chamber through the opening; and a moving member that is arranged at a closing position in the insertion chamber for closing the opening, and in conjunction with the insertion movement of the powder discharge part, moves to an opening position for opening the opening to establish communication with the discharge port. The moving member has a first guide part and a second guide part that are extended along an inner wall of the insertion chamber from a support part toward the inlet part while facing each other, and the first guide part is arranged on the bottom part of the insertion chamber, and has a planar closing part that closes the opening and a contact stopper that is in contact with an inlet-side end located on the inlet part of the opening.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9A
