Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a multiply-branched aliphatic-aromatic polyester having an useful end group and a Tg which is advantageous in melt condensation or polymer processing by allowing a specific branching reactant to undergo self-condensation.
CONSTITUTION: A multiply-branched polymer is obtained by condensing group Z1 and group Z2 of a branching reactant of formula 1 {wherein j is 2 or 3; Ar is an aryl or heteroaryl group having from one to three, solitary or linked or fused, substituted or unsubstituted, 5- or 6-membered rings; one of Z1 and Z2 is a group of formula II [wherein R1 is hydroxy, chloro, bromo, a monovalent 1-6C alkoxide or -O-(CH2)d-OH (wherein d is an integer of 1-3)], while the other is a group of formula III (wherein R2 is a divalent 1-6C alkyl group; and g is an integer of 0-100)}.
