Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a powdery product for an asphalt composition which can be directly added to liquid asphalt and therefore can dispense with a step of forming a masterbatch by adding an antitack agent to a rubber substane of a low Mooney viscosity.
CONSTITUTION: This powdery product for an asphalt composition comprising 10-90 pts.wt. rubber substance of a Mooney viscosity (ML1+4,100°C) of 30-90 (a styrene/butadiene rubber is desirable because of its easy solubility in asphalt) and 90-10 pts.wt. antitack agent (desirably an inorganic compound, a thermoplastic resin or an organic filler) and having a mean particle diameter of 2mm or below. Because the asphalt composition contains the antitack agent, it can be kept in a powdery state. Because it can be molten even when added directly to liquid asphalt, a step of forming a masterbatch can be dispensed with. By using a suitable antitack agent such as an inorganic compound, the antitack agent can act also as an inorganic filler.
