Abstract:

To enable a dramatic power generation output increase during times of peak power demand to be coped with, and further, enable high loads to be kept up without installing a large capacity gasification furnace.

A coal gas furnace 10 and a gas turbine 52 are provided in a steam power generation plant. Coal gasification gas gained with the gasification furnace is used as fuel for the gas turbine. The power generation plant uses the exhaust gas from this gas turbine as air for boiler combustion of the steam power generation plant. A fuel synthesis device 40, 41 which synthesizes organic fuels such as methanol and dimethanol from the coal gasification gas of which carbon monoxide and oxygen generated in the coal gasification furnace are the principle components, and a storage tank which stores the synthesized organic fuels are provided. In addition to the coal gasification gas, the stored organic fuels can be used as fuel for the gas turbine.
