PURPOSE: To provide a power steering control device which can excellently prevent the undesired increase of a current-carrying quantity by quickly correcting the current-carrying quantity to a solenoid coil at the time of the abnormal condition of the solenoid coil.

CONSTITUTION: The duty ratio DUTY of conduction is computed (101 to 105) on the basis of the target current value It and the actual current value Ij of a solenoid coil, and when DUTY>Dmax, it is determined that abnormal condition such as short-circuiting condition exists, and the duty ratio DUTY is fixed (107, 113) to an upper limit Dmax. At the time of computing Dmax (117:YES), the resistance R of the solenoid coil is computed (121), and Dmax is computed on the basis of the resistance R (123, 125). Since the resistance R corresponds to the conducting condition of the solenoid coil, the upper limit Dmax is set small, thereby being able to quickly deal with the abnormal condition.
