Abstract:
To extend the lives of members related to development, while reducing unnecessary adhesion of toner to a rear face of a sheet.SOLUTION: In a first period to prevent unnecessary adhesion of toner to an image carrier, a control unit controls a first power supply so that a developing voltage with a first polarity is applied to a developing member. In a second period to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrier with toner, the control unit controls the first power supply so that a developing voltage with a second polarity is applied to the developing member. There is a third period different from the first period. In the third period, a toner image is not formed on the image carrier. The control unit controls the first power supply and second power supply so that the potential difference between the developing member and a supply member in the third period becomes smaller than the potential difference in the first period and second period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
