Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare the title compound, economically, by reacting tetrachloroethylene with a triorganochlorosilane in the presence of a metallic dechlorinating agent using 1,3-dimethy1-2-imidazolidinone as a harmless, effective reaction medium.
CONSTITUTION: Bistriorganosilylacetylene is prepared by reacting tetrachloroethylene with a triorganochlorosilane of formula R3SiCl (R is alkyl, vinyl, etc.) in the presence of a metallic dechlorinating agent using 1,3-dimethy1-2-imidazolidinone of formula as a reaction medium, pref. at 60-120°C. 1,3-Dimethy1-2-imidazolidinone has very high safety, and gives the title compound most economically compared with the conventional reaction media.
