Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:1(or 2)-Allyloxy-2(or 1)-hydroxy-4[1(or 2)-allyloxy-2(or 1)-(hydroxy)ethyl].
USE: A crosslinking agent or modifier in copolymerization with other vinyl monomers. A starting material for unsaturated polyesters and polyurethane resins. It can be characterized by its 2 ethylenically double bonds and 2 hydroxy groups in one molecule.
PREPARATION: 4-Vinylcyclohexene diepoxide and allyl alcohol are heated in the presence of a catalyst such as elementary alkali metal, alkoxide, or protonic acid to effect the reaction to give the diol of the formula.
