PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic container having improved adhesion and sealing property of seams with time, by engaging an outer member with an inner member with an adhesive layer placed therebetween, heating the members, and cooling both members having opened ends filled with the adhesive at the same temperature just before the solidification.
CONSTITUTION: An adhesive layer 11 is placed between opened ends 3 and 4 of the bottom body 1 and the top body 2 of a metallic seamless cup-like molded article, and the ends 3 and 4 are engaged with each other, and heated (preferably the temperature of the inner member is the same as or lower than that of the outer member). The members are then cooled in such a state that the temperatures of the both ends of the engaged parts just before the solidification are equal, and both ends are filled with the adhesive to give the aimed container. Preferably, the adhesive layer is placed between the engaging parts in the following relation of dimension expressed by formulaI[(DI) the outside diameter of the engaging parts of the inner member; (DO) is the inside diameter of the engaging parts of the inner member; (dA) is the application thickness of the adhesive layer], and the adhesive is preferably a thermoplastic adhesive having ≤10% volume change (δ) expressed by formula II{(Va) is the specific volume (cc/g) at a temperature[Ts (solidifying temperature)+10]°C; (Vb) is the specific volume (cc/g) at[Ts-10]°C}and 80W280°C softening point.
EFFECT: The occurrence of tensile stress in the adhesive layer is prevented.
