Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prepare the title elastomer having improved low temperature characteristics, by the radical copolymerization of a monomer mixture composed of tetrafluoroethylene, propylene and n-butyl vinyl ether.

CONSTITUTION: The objective elastomer having improved low-temperature characteristics is prepared by copolymerizing a monomer mixture composed of (a) tetrafluoroethylene, (b) propylene and (c) n-butyl vinyl ether, in the presence of a radical polymerization initiation source such as ionizing radiation.

EFFECT: The copolymer has a glass transition temperature of as low as -10W -27°C, and keeps the excellent mechanical properties and heat resistance of tetrafluoroethylene-propylene elastomer.
