PURPOSE: To prepare the titled resin having excellent coating performance and useful for the coating of automobile parts, etc., by polymerizing a specific unsaturated nitrile monomer and an aromatic vinyl monomer in the presence of a diene rubber, and then polymerizing a specific amount of an unsaturated nitrile monomer.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of an unsaturated nitrile monomer (e.g. acrylonitrile) and an aromatic vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene) containing 10W37wt% of the unsaturated nitrile monomer is polymerized in the presence of a diene rubber (e.g. polybutadiene). 100pts.wt. of the obtained polymer is mixed with 5W30pts.wt. of an unsaturated nitrile monomer (preferably acrylonitrile) (the total amount of the unsaturated nitrile monomer is 25W40wt%, preferably 25W35wt%, based on the whole monomers), and the mixture is polymerized to obtain the objective resin.
EFFECT: Coating of an ABS resin with the objective resin improves the weather resistance of the ABS resin. Especially, the coating crazing resistance of a molded ABS resin having high residual strain can be improved.
