Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an undeca-1,3,5-triene isomer mixture containing a major amount of undeca-1,3E,5Z-triene as an active fragrant component.
CONSTITUTION: a) 1,4-dichloro-but-2-ene, 1,2-dichloro-but-3-ene or a mixture of these is added to an organo-metal derivative expressed as H11C5-≡-Y in which Y is an alkali metal or MgX with X is a halogen atom to yield undec-2- ene-5-yn-1-yl chloride. b) The acetylenic triple bond of the obtained chloride is reduced catalytic hydrogen addition to form undeca-2,5-dien-1-yl chloride, c) which is then treated with a base.
