Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To employ a high pressure refrigerant in a system designed to employ a low pressure refrigerant by sustaining the pressure at a level lower than the threshold level of maximum design pressure so that the maximum design pressure of a line is not exceeded at the time of high pressure operation, e.g. heat pump operation.
SOLUTION: The operation principle is to decrease the speed of an outdoor fan motor 22 when the steam line refrigerant pressure of a heat pump system operating in heating mode reaches a line set 13 or the design pressure of an indoor coil 27. Refrigerant pressure is thereby lowered on the high pressure side of a system. When the refrigerant pressure in the steam line lowers to reach a specified cut-in pressure, original fan motor speed is reset. The pressure for lowering the fan motor speed is set at the lowest design pressure in the combination of a specific steam line and the indoor coil. The cut-in pressure is set by economically preferable switching.
