Title:
PRESSURE-RELIEF LUBRICATING JOINT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3770997
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint, wherein a seal is not damaged due to excess pressure in a joint assembly by controlling pressure in the sealed joint assembly.
SOLUTION: A pin joint assembly contains a pin 74 slidably connected to a bearing assembly 50 installed into the bore 26 of an equalizer bar 10. The periphery of the equalizer bar 10 is surrounded by a pair of seals 58, 60 arranged on both sides of the bearing assembly 50 in order to seal an interior of the equalizer 10. The seals 58, 60 are disposed adjacently to the bearing assembly 50, and a pair of cavities 70, 72 are defined between both seals 58, 60. A receiving path is elongated from a counter bore 88 formed to the external surface of the equalizer bar 10, terminated in the bearing assembly 50, and communicated fluidly with the pin joint assembly. When pressure in cavities 70, 72 during operation is increased, pressure relief valves in a pair of discharge paths 94, 98 adjacently arranged in the seals 58, 60 are opened, pressure in the cavities 70, 72 is relieved, and the seals 58, 60 are protected from damage.
