PURPOSE: To prevent the clogging of a tundish nozzle and to execute smoothly continuous casting in the stage of casting a molten steel into a continuous casting mold by applying electromagnetic stirring to the molten steel in a sliding nozzle part thereby flowing forcibly the molten steel.
CONSTITUTION: An electromagnetic stirrer 6 is installed around an upper plate 7 to generate continuously a rotating magnetic field in the plate 7 thereby applying swirling flow to the molten steel. The molten steel flowing down in an immersion nozzle 10 flows out in the state in which the spiral flow is induced. The stirring force is exerted to the molten steel in an upper nozzle 1 as well as a result of the swirling flow applied to the molten steel in the plate 7 position by the electromagnetic stirrer 6, by which stagnating parts are eliminated. The current intensity of the electromagnetic stirrer which applies the swirling flow to the molten steel is controlled by a control device 5 for the electromagnetic stirrer.
