PURPOSE: To eliminate the projection of shearing burrs, by making as a first step some incisions into a metal strip to the extent that it may not come to its correlative severance while imparting a cut in step difference form by a couple of slitter rolls and afterward adding push-back force to said strip.

CONSTITUTION: Limited cuts avoiding its correlative severance are incised in step difference form to a metal strip W at an interval of every plural section extending breadthwise over by a couple of slitter rolls 1. Pressurized in a direction that may reduce this step difference, secondary shearing force is added by push-back rolls 2 and thereby pull cutting takes place by pinch rolls 3, so that the strip comes to severance into plural system pieces. At this time, a crop C is pulled early by the rolls 3 whereby the double catch of the push-back rolls is obviated.
