PURPOSE: To provide the primary coil of a superconducting linear induction motor in a structure for maximizing thrust by adjusting the number of coil windings and the coil diameter for each coil so that the total inductance for each phase is constant.
CONSTITUTION: In a superconducting linear induction motor, a plurality of D-type coil units 21 in the same structure where superconducting wires for AC are wound on nonmagnetic and nonconductive D-type roll frame 22 by including nonmagnetic and nonconductive spacers between adjacent turns or between layers with some clearance are arranged in semicylindrical as a whole. Then, is the primary coil of the superconducting linear induction motor, the conduction current of each phase is balanced and the number of coil windings of each phase is changed so that the conduction current can be applied to the level near the quench current of superconduction, thus balancing the inductance between phase coils 25.
