PURPOSE: To set an erased area and an additional information write area finely with high precision by simple, small-size additional constitution and to record additional characters as a positive image by controlling erasing light by two arrays of liquid-crystal shutters respectively.
CONSTITUTION: The CPU 80 of the main control part of a copying machine controls the control part 241 of an eraser equipped with a CPU 241A, etc. The transmission and nontransmission of two arrays A and B of liquid crystal shutters having light transmission control electrodes arranged in the breadthwise direction of a photosensitive body are controlled by a liquid crystal driver 245 which reacts to the control part 241 to control the cutoff of irradiation light from the cathode-ray tube 242 of a shutter light source, dot by dot. The array A controls the erasure of a latent image in an area of the photosensitive body corresponding to print information and the array B controls that corresponding to an image area. Consequently, the erased area and additional information write area are set finely with high precision by the simple, small-size additional constitution and additional characters are recorded as a positive image accurately.
