A system controller 111 incorporated in a printer reads the picture of a printing object from a memory card 201 to judge whether the picture quality is good or not. The frame of a picture quality good enough to print is printed as it is but concerning a frame of a low picture quality, printing is automatically stopped and an index print obtained by gathering only the frames of low picture qualities is prepared instead. Thus, even at the time of full-frame printing for continuously printing plural frames of pictures, the frames of the low picture quality is no longer printed continuously one by one. Then, it is prevented to wastefully use printing papers and to waste time for print-processing the low quality picture.
