Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a representing gradation value for each pixel and to suppress occurrence of banding in terms of a multi-value printer.
SOLUTION: Ink drops are continuously ejected to each one pixel during the main scanning in this ink jet printer. The number of times of ejection of ink drops to one pixel is set corresponding to a representing gradation value by each pixel. The impact positions of the ejected ink drops are shifted in the main scanning direction so that the formed dot becomes a flat shaped one elongated in the main scanning direction. A dot pitch in the sub-scanning direction is set to one sufficiently smaller than a width of the flat dot in the sub- scanning direction. A dot pitch in the main scanning direction is set to one which is sufficiently smaller than a width of the flat dot in the main scanning direction such that the number of pixels in a whole image does not exceed a value predetermined corresponding to a printing speed. When the dot is formed by the above pitch, banding is prevented and an image superior in gradation representation can be printed at a high speed.
