PURPOSE: To enable a leading end part of a recording paper to be easily guided from the first pinch roller to the next one, by applying an adhesive to an adhesive margin of the paper when the paper is guided to a pressing surface between the first pinch roller and a platen roller.

CONSTITUTION: The recording paper 22 is inserted into the gap between an adhesive-applying member 23 and a guide wall 26. When a light-receiving surface of a photo-diode 28 is shielded by the leading end part of the paper 22, an output signal from the diode 28 is led into a plunger device 29, which projects a movable rod 30 to lift up the member 23 on the front side. A cloth form brush 27 is pressed against the paper 22, thereby applying an adhesive 25 to the paper 22. The paper 22 is then led to the pressing surface between the pinch roller 8a and the platen roller 5, where the leading end part is adhered to the roller 5, while the other part of the paper not coated with the adhesive is brought into close contact with the roller 5, and in this condition, the paper is inserted into the pressing surface between the next pinch roller 8b and the roller 5.
