To smoothly open/close an opening/closing cover without damaging paper with an indentation or a blemish when opening/closing the opening/closing cover, and moreover to provide clear printing.
This printer is provided with: a heat sink 15 provided in a printer body 1 so that the base end side is turnably supported by a supporting shaft 15a and that the opposite base end side is located in a moving locus of a platen roller 11 when the opening/closing cover 2 is turned; projecting parts 18 protrusively provided at both ends on the opposite base end side of the heat sink 15; and collar parts 19 provided at both axial ends of the platen roller 11 and abutting on the projecting parts 18 of the heat sink 15 when the opening/closing cover 2 is opened/closed, to move the heat sink 15 in a separating direction from the platen roller 11 against the energizing force of a spring 17.
