PURPOSE: To obtain a small-sized printer generating no clogging of a recording medium therein, enabling highly accurate alignment, imparting high printing quality and shortened in printing time.
CONSTITUTION: A recording medium 1 is set and fixed on the surface of a thermal head partner member 3 at a predetermined position. A line thermal head 2 is brought into contact with the partner member 3 under pressure through an ink sheet 5 and the recording medium 1 and the ink sheet guide roller 10 on the side of an ink sheet taking-up reel 6b is transferred from a solid line state to a dotted line state to fix the ink sheet 5 and, in this state, a feed screw 12 is rotated in a G-direction and, at the same time, the heating element 2a of the thermal head is allowed to generate heat while the thermal head 2 is moved in an E-direction to apply printing to the predetermined area of the recording medium 1.
