PURPOSE: To provide a printing character size setting device capable of displaying a required character size quickly effectively on a display when the printing character size is selectively set.
CONSTITUTION: When a printing character size is selectively set, in the case where an upper cursor key is not pushed down for a specific time (S13: NO), a single key is considered to be inputted, a character size message is successively displayed on a liquid crystalline display in an order of an en-size, an em-size, and a double size while the point number of each character size is being successively varied following a table content of the character size (S23, S18). Besides, in the case where the upper cursor key is pushed down for a specific time (S13: YES), a repeat key is considered to be inputted, and an em-size character corresponding to the point number representing each character size in the table content is selectively displayed on a liquid crystalline display while a message number is being skipped by each two pieces (S15, S18). Then, after displaying a required character size on the liquid crystalline display, the character size is set with a return key (S26: YES, S27).
