A printing device 1 includes: a battery holder 50a which contains a battery 50 which supplies voltage to a thermal head control circuit 47 actuating a thermal head 8, and can be charged; and ROM42 which has memorized a first threshold characteristic V1 and a second threshold characteristic V2 for determining battery deterioration grade based on a change with time characteristic of an output voltage value in a case the battery 50 discharges from full charge condition, performs discharge treatment by giving predetermined load to the battery 50, and determines deterioration grade of the battery after starting of the discharge treatment in response to that voltage measured values Vt which are detected at a predetermined interval by multiple times become a first section P by a side of higher voltage than the first threshold characteristic V1, or become a second section Q by a side of lower voltage than the second threshold characteristic V2, or become a third section R between the first section P and the second section Q.
