In a printing device in which a POS application 50 is incorporated in the application layer 36, a filter driver 44 is incorporated into an operating system layer 34, and a data output application 52 is incorporated into the application layer 36. The filter driver 44 and the data output application 52 can be thereby incorporated into a controller 30 without changing the POS application 50. When an error occurs in a printing part 22, the controller 30 acquires error data by the filter driver 44 and outputs it to a computer 70 by the data output application 52. The error data can thereby be managed in the computer 70.
