The private information management system is a system for dealing with private information which has a connection function to a private information data dispersion management server 3 for providing a function to encipher the private information data by a secret dispersion method and decode it by a decoding index key. The system is provided with a retrieval key word management data base 5 for storing the decoding index key and a private information management apparatus 1. When there is a storage request of the private information data needing the security protection, the private information data are divided and stored in the private information data dispersion management server 3 and stored in the retrieval key word management data base 5 in association with the decoding index key.
