Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit generation of gaseous hydrogen caused by the reaction between an ampholytic metal contained in radioactive waste and a hydraulic solidifier.
SOLUTION: In this processing method, a protective film forming agent forming a protective film inhibiting hydrogen generation on the surface of an ampholytic metal, cement, and water are kneaded together in a kneading machine 2, and the kneaded mixture obtained and a hydration reaction promoter promoting the hydration reaction of the cement are injected into a solidification container 1 filled with radioactive incinerated ash containing the ampholytic metal. Since free water is taken in as water of crystallization by the action of the hydration reaction promoter, the reaction of the ampholytic metal with the cement is inhibited to inhibit hydrogen generation.
