A sensitive material is processed by color development, desilvering and washing and/or processing with a stabilizing soln. A processing soln. having fixing ability used for the desilvering contains a compd. represented by formula I or II and has pH6.1-8.0. In the formula I, Q is a group of nonmetallic atoms required to form a hetero ring, (p) is 0 or 1 and Ma is H or a cation. In the formula II, Qb is a group of nonmetallic atoms required to form a cyclic structure, Xb is 0, S or N-Rb (Rb is H, aliphatic hydrocarbon, aryl or a heterocyclic group) and Mb is H or a cation. The processing soln. having fixing ability means a processing soln. contg. a fixing agent and it is concretely a bleaching soln. or a bleach-fixing soln.
