To provide a producing method for a synthetic gas from heavy natural gas, by which supply energy necessary in a reforming tube inside a heating furnace is decreased.
This producing method for the synthetic gas from the heavy natural gas is performed by mixing light natural gas, which is obtained by the reaction of desulfurized heavy natural gas with steam, with steam and pre-heating, bringing the mixture into contact with a catalyst under an adiabatic condition at 500-700°C to carry out a 1st stage reforming reaction, and next, carrying out a 2nd stage reforming reaction in the reforming tube inside the heating furnace. A catalyst prepared by incorporating a specific quantity of Ni or a platinum group metal as an active ingredient in a support comprising CaO and Al2O3, containing a specific quantity of CaO, at least a part of which forms a compound with Al2O3, and having a specific porosity, or a catalyst prepared by incorporating specific quantity of Ni in α-alumina having a specific fine pore volume and composed of 98 wt.% aluminum oxide is used.
