PURPOSE: To efficiently produce the subject compounds useful as pharmaceuticals having anticonvulsive activity, in a high yield and purity by subjecting a specific thiazolium salt to ring transformation in the presence of a base.
CONSTITUTION: The production of such an aminopyrrole compound comprises subjecting a thiazolium salt represented by the formula I [wherein: R1 is H, an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, hetaryl, nitro or cyano group, or the like; each of R2 and R3 is H, a (substituted) aryl or alkyl group, or the like; each of R4 and R5 is H, an alkoxycarbonyl or aminocarbonyl group, or the like; and X- is an acid group anion] to ring transformation, preferably in the presence of a base such as tertiary amine, to produce the objective aminopyrrole compound represented by the formula II.
