Title:
PRODUCTION OF 1,1-BIS(TRIFLUOROMETHYL)-1-HYDROXY-3-BUTENE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2780728
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound which is a monomer to be used for copolymers useful as a fiber treating agent under mild conditions in high reactional ratio and selectivity by subjecting hexafluoroacetone to a catalytic vapor phase reaction with propylene in the presence of an activated carbon catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Hexafluoroacetone is subjected to a catalytic vapor phase reaction with propylene in the presence of an activated carbon as a catalyst, preferably at 240-260°C for 100-200sec to provide the objective compound. As the activated carbon, a pellet-like, globular or crushed activated carbon having 1-3mm particle diameter is preferably used. As the reactor, in view of safety and reaction efficiency a continuous reactor capable of communicating these raw materials in a low pressure into a reacting tube in which the catalyst is packed is preferably used. Although the reactional pressure is preferably 10kg/cm2 from the viewpoint of safety, etc., when the continuous reactor is used, the pressure of 3kg/cm2 is sufficient.
