To produce a compound having fungicidal activity in high purity and yield without causing side reactions.
The objective compound of the formula I [Ar is a (substituted) phenyl] is produced by reacting 1,3-dimethyl-5-chloro-pyrazole-4-carbonyl chloride of the formula II with a fluoride and reacting the resultant 1,3-dimethyl-5- fluoropyrazole-4-carbonyl fluoride of the formula III with an aniline compound of the formula, H2N-Ar in the presence of an acid acceptor. The reaction of the compound of the formula II with the fluoride (e.g. potassium fluoride) is carried out in a solvent such as sulfolane at 100-250°C and the obtained compound of the formula III is a new compound. The acid acceptor is e.g. diazabicyclooctane. The compound of the formula I is produced by using 1-15mol of aniline based on 1mol of the compound of the formula III and reacting in a solvent such as acetonitrile at 0-120°C.
